Feeling a little snacky?
Let me make some hummus. It won't take that long, honest especially if you have food processor.
All you need are:
Tin of cooked chickpeas, drained and rinsed
Juice of a lemon
Olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Blend the required amount of ingredients to suit your taste buds.
For more flavour add freshly ground cumin seeds or fresh coriander.
Serve with pitta bread chips.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.


  1. Love homemade hummus! A little tip I learned from my CSA . . .you can add a cup of steamed kale/spinach/other greens and it will be pretty and nutritious :-)

  4. Looks good! I make this all the time, sometimes using a combo of chickpeas and mixed beans (1 can of each). It makes for a nice change and adds little flecks of colour.

  8. I love hommus, its the only dip I ever eat, besides quick gaucamole. Probably because its the only dairy free one in the shops.
    The homemade one looks great, although we dont have a food processor so I probably wouldnt attempt it myself :)
    Have you made pitta bread yourself before? They are SO good with dip.

    I don't always have the patience to make it with dried chickpeas, thats why I rely on my store cupboard, and funny enough the East End chickpeas brand are my favourite too.

    You can make hummus without a food processor, just takes a little bit more elbow grease and the help of a masher.

    I have made pitta bread from scrath many times and agree fresh is best, but there are days when I am lazy and pick up a packet. This was one of those evenings :D

    I only listed the ingredients, not the amounts, so just make sure you make it as you like it with the right amount of ingredients, too much tahini and it a little overpowering. Enjoy!

  16. Oh yummo! I do love hummus. For quite awhile it was the only thing my toddler daughter would eat. Not mine sadly, a lovely Lebanese couple in a local store They must have had the magic touch as the children in our area ate everything that came from their store, meaning all the vegetables not the chips and lollies stock!     I had hummus for the first time 10 years ago at a friends freinds house and I immediately got the recipe. I think I may have bought it once for taste comparison, but never again.
