Easy Pear and Cinnamon Loaf

I have to confess that I have really lost my blogging mojo lately, so regular readers I do hope you will forgive me.  I just don't have the mental energy when I get home from work so my blogging is likely to be weekly, I hope you will stick around.

I share with you a recipe for an Easy Pear and Cinnamon Loaf adapted from A Girl Called Jack by Jack Monroe.
I flicked through the cookbook to see if it had a recipe for pears as I had a load that were beginning to go really soft.  I could not find a pear recipe int he cookbook but noted that I could adapt the Apple and Cinnamon Loaf.

Although my layering of the sliced pears on top is quite amateurish, the loaf actually turned out to be rather nice, .  I also made Jack Monroe's Carrot, Cumin and Kidney Bean Burgers (so no pictures)
I am not going to write up the Easy Pear and Cinnamon Loaf recipe here, as you can find Jack Monroe's original Apple and Cinnamon recipe here.  My changes were minor really, I replaced the apples with sliced pears and the dried fruit with chopped dates, that is it.

  2. Dear Shaheen,I feel your pain but at least you are getting paid for your full time job. Me n the other hand - full time mum of 3 kids, 2 of them have autism, life can be so so so challenging because of it but very rewarding at the same time. Big breath in and out and smile...xx

    1. Thanks Laura. I know I am lucky in lots of ways, but you can appreciate days when it just gets too you. There are days of course that are rewarding, sadly not many of them in my life are associated with work. Big breath in and out and smile - Yes. Thank you so much

  4. This looks lovely. Sorry to hear your situation at work isn't to your liking. That can be draining. I hope something new is on the horizon and you'll be happier in the new year. xx

  5. Sorry to hear your job is not going well - I hope that it at least gives you some solace that it is temporary and hope there are better work situations around the corner - I haven't much of a blogging mojo but am trying to keep it up as am getting close to 2000 posts so that is giving me something to aim for! And I love it when I get some time, which is not enough lately. I love your loaf - I would describe the presentation as rustic rather than amateurish - I wish I could be as creative with pears - they often make me sad if they get too soft.

  6. I totally understand about feeling depleted when you get home from work. I am actually looking for a new job right now, one which I can totally leave behind me when I leave the workplace and which pays a fair wage- bit of a tall order, but I believe it is put there somewhere. And it will be for you too 🙂. I love the look of this pear cinnamon cake; we all love this kind of cake in my house so I will have to give it a try. Take care 💚

... I am posing once or twice a week at most at the moment

    1. Thank you Sarojini. Good luck with finding a new job too. I don't mind the work I do, I can do it well - its the people that exhaust me with their crap. I too just want to earn a fair wage to pay the mortgage and survive day to day.

  7. I feel it Shaheen. I have been really struggling. I'm not happy in my job either and as a result. feel completely exhausted emotionally most of the time.... which makes the blog (and everything else) more effort than it should be.
Stick with what you can manage and do what you need to get through the difficult patch. It will get better xx

  8. I relate to losing mojo (and just losing time) and you still post so much more regularly than me :-) I have made many apple cinnamon cakes but never a pear one - I very much like the idea. I hope this helped you through the week.

    1. Thanks Kari,
But you can be forgiven for not posting as regular as me, you are a Mommy :) and have more work to do even when the pay clock stops ticking. The pears offered a change as its not an ingredient I cook with that often
